Each month, I draw a suit card—one of the eight ancestral archetypes—to hold us in a shared field of energy. Each Sunday of that month, I draw an archesphere from within that suit and pair it with a tarot card to receive our message for the week.

For November, we’re in the field of the Companion, exploring what it means to belong…to one another, to life, and to the tender web that connects us all.
This week’s archesphere is Pleasure, paired with the Ace of Swords, inviting us to open our minds and hearts to the delights of being alive.
The Archesphere of Pleasure
Pleasure’s call is simple and profound: to receive and revel in the sweetness of being.
It delights, soothes, and enlivens. Pleasure is the experience of joy, ease, and the sheer enjoyment of existence. It is the bliss of presence, the sweetness of sensation, and the relief of release. Pleasure invites us to embrace play, levity, and the nourishment of delight, reminding us that life is not just something to endure, but something to savor.
When Pleasure approaches, it may arrive as a softening in your body, a spontaneous smile, or the urge to play. It can also reveal where we’ve braced against ease, where joy feels dangerous or undeserved.
Pleasure asks us to contemplate questions like:
Where do I allow myself to receive joy?
And how can I revel in the gifts of being?
Whenever an archesphere comes to call, it’s a living presence reaching toward us, inviting relationship. Sometimes we simply notice its call, sometimes we push it away or grasp tightly, and sometimes we meet it with resonance. None of these ways are wrong. The purpose isn’t to fix or improve our response, but to perceive it, to recognize how we’re relating with the moment.
And then, if we choose, we can take steps to move toward resonance.1
Ace of Swords
In many versions of this card, we see a hand emerging from a cloud, holding a sword upright. It’s a symbol of offering, the Universe extending the gift of the Sword.
The Aces mark the beginning of a cycle. They ask us to consider how we’re using the gift of their suit in our daily lives. In the suit of Swords, that gift is mental clarity: thought, awareness, communication, and the expansion of consciousness.
The Ace of Swords can also signal a fresh surge of mental energy. Perhaps a new idea, or the return of one we’re ready to see in a new light. It can also bring that flash of insight when the fog finally lifts and we recognize what’s true.
This week, that clarity is all about a way of perceiving that makes room for Pleasure to move more freely through our lives.
How does the Ace of Swords help us relate with Pleasure?
One way to understand how the tarot illuminates an archesphere is to imagine them as realms on the great map of Presence, the vast landscape of our inner and outer lives. The tarot card shows us where the archesphere is calling from.
So when the archesphere of Pleasure pairs with the Ace of Swords, it tells us that Pleasure has come to call in the realm of new ideas, awareness, and perception. This week, we might notice Pleasure brushing up against our thoughts in:
a spark of inspiration that feels unexpectedly joyful,
a new way of seeing that brings relief,
or even the mental clarity that allows sweetness to move more freely through our days.
And once we’ve located where it’s calling from, the Ace of Swords can help us see how we’re relating with Pleasure right now:
Curiosity / Observation
The Sword cuts through distraction so we can clearly see what brings us Pleasure. You might simply pause today to notice what sparks a small smile. Whatever it is, let yourself register it fully before moving on. Sometimes awareness itself is the deepest form of receiving.Pushing Away
The Sword exposes the mental habits that guard us from feeling good.
If Pleasure feels distant or undeserved, write down one thought that might be blocking it…I don’t have time, This won’t last, I haven’t earned it.
Then, with the Sword’s clarity, hold that thought and ask gently, Is this true? This isn’t about forcing Pleasure, it’s about clearing space for it to find you.Grasping
The Sword reveals when our pursuit of Pleasure becomes an escape from presence. If you catch yourself chasing, numbing or overindulging, pause and place a hand on your heart. Ask, What am I truly longing for beneath this desire? Sometimes Pleasure deepens when we stop pursuing and start listening.Resonance
The Sword reminds us that when clarity meets Pleasure, truth begins to sing. Resonance isn’t passive harmony; it’s a living vibration between you and life itself. When you align with Pleasure’s rhythm, it amplifies through you, rippling outward into the world. In this realm of new ideas, resonance feels like inspiration that delights, clarity that doesn’t just illuminate but enlivens. Pleasure becomes the joy of seeing clearly, the thrill of a mind in tune with life’s sweetness.
If it feels right to move toward resonance with Pleasure, begin by treating this archesphere as a presence to be in relationship with. Ask them how they want to be in your life this week, how they want to move or express through you.
Then, notice where you feel their response: the ideas that make your body exhale, the conversations that light you up, the words that ring with kindness or ease.
Follow those, they’re Pleasure’s language, their way of saying I’m here.
No chasing, no striving. Just the steady attunement of two beings learning each other’s rhythm.
As we move through this first week in the field of the Companion, may the call of Pleasure remind us that Love delights in our delight.
May our clarity be kind, our joy unguarded, and our presence a gift to ourselves and the web of life that holds us all.
