What a gorgeous and timely read for me, personally, Jenna, as I have returned 'home' in my (always at home) home on wheels, holding questions about home as belonging, as I settle into the familiar with a sense of wonder. What a treat on the day that I set out to catch up from missing out of much of November here on Substack that this post is the first that I read! Thank you for including Beyond the Comfort Zone. 🙏

Thank you, Renee, and welcome home! ❤️ Settling into the familiar with a sense of wonder...that's so beautiful. It makes me want to cultivate that, intentionally, even as I stay in the familiar. I finished Jeremy Johnson's book (you and I have much to discuss!) and just now as I contemplated settling into the familiar with a sense of wonder, I got a flashing glimpse of this present moment in its fullness with past and future and felt, for an instant, the transparency of it. It makes me wonder, too, about settling into the unfamiliar with a sense of familiarity. As always, you stir so much in me, thank you! And thank you for Beyond the Comfort Zone...it feels like a little bit of home to me too.

Jenna,

Thank you for the warm welcome home and your kind words about Beyond the Comfort Zone. I feel the same stirring and homing about Witchcraft and Metaphysics.

And I SO look forward to discussing Jeremy Johnson and whatever has surfaced there, including your flashing glimpse of transparency across past and future in this present moment, and the familiar in the unfamiliar . . . unfamiliar in the familiar. It is said that the unfamiliar in the familiar (i.e., the experience of the strange in the same) is the birth of wonder!

Such a great topic Jenna. Home is such an interesting place for me at the moment as I am in the process of searching for a new one. I have been contemplating on where I go from here from a place where so much transformation has happened and a sacred place was created. It’s strange not to know where I’m going next, so I am working on creating an internal safe space where I can camp out in the meantime! Thank you always for your generosity of spirit and kindred sharing of special wisdom with us all. 🙏💫❤️

Blessings and love to you, Louise as you make this transition. ❤️🙏 That space between homes can feel very unsettled and destabilizing. At least it does for me, I'm such a homebody. I remember being in that in-between state once and feeling like I was in free fall, like I couldn't quite place my feet on anything solid. I didn't care for it to say the least. I love that you are creating a home within you that you can take anywhere. Such wisdom there! I'm sending you groundedness and connection and the knowing that the perfect home is on its way to you.

I too see home as sanctuary, as a place of magic. A place to for rest and letting down. And home as land. Mine is not where my house is but various locations on our planet that speak deep to my soul. Like Kauai, France, Scotland and Ireland. Looking forward to the deeper dive. Also I have been meaning to tell you that your monthly downloads are so beautifully done. Thank you!

Thank you, Julie! I LOVE that you have found home in various locations like that. When I was 14, I traveled to Europe with my family. As the plane was touching down in London, I was overcome with a sense of coming home. It took me by surprise too. I'd had no previous attachments to England (not consciously anyway) and it was so encompassing. At that age, I had trouble making sense of feeling such a strong emotional connection to a place I'd never been (I understand a lot more now). I look forward to being able to return someday.

I love this topic Jenna! And thank you for sharing the recommendations for other writers who cover this topic.

I have a draft on the topic of making and finding “home” waiting to be finished and shared on substack one day.

I did ann ancademic, ethnographic research project at UCL on this topic years ago. It fascinated me how the migrant women I interviewed had different interpretations. And I also love that in German we have 2 words. One for the place you come from one for where you live / feel at home.

You inspired me to dig that draft out again xx

Oooh, I can't wait to read your post when it comes out! I'm intrigued by the different points of view of the migrant women. I bet they have ideas of home that I can't even conceive of. Fascinating! Can you share the two German words with me? I'd love to say them to my ancestors. ❤️

Hi Jenna, thanks for your warm comment.

Love Magic : Love, expressed as an adjective. Magic, expressed as a noun.

I will translate Love Magic to a Hawaiian phrase: hana aloha. hana= magic. aloha= love.

Notice the Hawaiian reversal of adjective and noun. So, hana aloha = love magic….

hana as adjective, and aloha as a noun……..I hope I’m not confusing you.
