Jenna, I have been reflecting on this pair and your interpretation for a few days--the call to reconnect with the primordial within us, which is at once wild (untamed), innocent, and pure. This reconnecting would seem to be that of allowing by open (pure, innocent) intention the re-integration of the animal nature that is the Archaic mode. And so, I can't help but wonder about the timing of this pair. . . .
What a powerful combo for me after just returning from my retreat, which was entitled "Untamed Women" I feel very feral right now. So I see the Animal and the fabulous Mary-El interpretation of the 8ofC as an exclamation point! A confirmation. I feel so in tune with what you have written here. And it is what is needed in our times right now. For humans to step down off their self created throne and live beside and along with all life, all animals, all existence. Not as a dominator, but as an integrated aspect of nature.
A return to innocence and reclaiming our right to live without fear. I feel like more will emerge Jenna, as the week goes on, my mind is on a bit of a go slow!
This is such a powerful read, Jenna. A read that invited me to let fall the human skin of "modern life" and feel the raw tainted skin of my primal self. As I write this I feel the human skin to my left and my primal skin to my right. I feel the dance over each other...like an eclipse of the moon and sun and earth. I see through my eyes a different sense of clarity and my senses are awakening yet again to something greater. Your post is like an initiation. A reminder to COME HOME...
Thank you, Sam! Yes, an initiation, that's exactly it! Thank you for naming that. I was having the same feeling but hadn't come to that word. An initiation is precisely what we're being moved through this week. And wow! Your description of you centered between the human skin and primal skin, all dancing like celestial bodies is amazing. It does feel like coming home. Like bringing the ancient parts of us into our integration as we return to it.
Whoa. This was raw and wild and powerful and gentle all at once. I felt a primal, simple, original pull into the deepest, oldest, and yet youngest parts of me when read your words. So much to work with and think about this week! xo
Thank you, Liz! I felt all those things too as I connected with both the Animal and this Eight of Cups. You really hit the nail on the head as far as what I was feeling when you wrote: I felt a primal, simple, original pull into the deepest, oldest, and yet youngest parts of me. It feels like a call to a primal wholeness, which includes all that is ancient and all that is yet to become.
