Great article Jenna. I needed this question spelled out for me, thanks Universe in the form of Jenna ;) "What feelings do we most want to generate?"
The way you describe the light Rebel helped me see that I've been drawn to those that live this archtype for most of my life. Tesla, Ben Franklin (all the founding fathers really), Weird Al in his way.
I'm always in amazement at how you weave the two together so beautifully. I see here the potency of the rebel for ushering in, even prophet-ing transformative change. At the same time, a necessary discernment needs to come into the fold to guide, shine a light on, nurture, and support--even when the change has apparently destructive qualities. I read from your reflections that this is the Seven of Cups, and that guidance shimmering under the glow of the Casper-like symbol. This line really stood out for me: what it is our SOUL wants to feel.
I literally just wrote this on another comment: "Being alive really does take an enormous amount of discernment, doesn't it?" Now that I read it again, though, I don't think being alive necessarily takes much discernment, but being fulfilled probably does. And then your reflecting back to me the line about what our soul wants to feel has me pondering what the soul is. I've long believed that the soul is many-parted (as opposed to a single entity that each individual 'has'). When we can get those soul parts aligned, and bring in a dash of discernment, I think that's when Casper takes off her veil.
It is fascinating the combos that come up as you do this practice! I like this combo. The 7ofC is an interesting card. Is it about choice, deception, getting lost in consumerism or a deeper clarification of what is truly needed? Combining it here with the rebel, it clearly is the latter. Cutting through the advertising and propaganda in order to zoom in on what is important. Much like what is being asked for us to do in our world today, to be rebels heralding in the Age of Aquarius.
Advertising...I forgot to even think about that, but that's exactly what's going on in the seven of cups. That's the dazzle, the shiny distraction. I'm hoping you write a post about the Age of Aquarius because I've been seeing that a lot recently and, while I have a general idea of what it's about, I'd love to learn more. ❤️
Thank you for this! Even though my training has taught me that all archetypes are neutral and there is no hierarchy, I can't help but feel that the Rebel is one of the most sacred patterns in the world.
Love your discussion of the Rebel, Jenna - I'm also thinking of another aspect, which is the willingness to fail - definitely the other side of "risk" and countering energy. Sometimes it can be incredibly difficult to go against the grain; that way is never as clearly marked as the usual and expected. :)
Yes, for sure! That's so insightful, Troy. The Rebel really does possess a willingness to fail. I hadn't thought of it that way. That willingness to fail takes real courage. In fact, now that I think of it in these terms, courage is a huge characteristic of the Rebel. Thank you for bringing this!
Agreed! I had to sit with this one for a LONG time to see the connection. And now it feels so potent, like the perfect message coming through this week.
just minutes ago i posted an article with a Sidereal astrology update and it coincides exactly with your reading on the Rebel archetype... THANK YOU!!!
Thank you, Geoffe! It's amazing to me how it works this way so often. Every week it feels like the reading speaks just to me, and then I find out how relevant it is for so many. There really is a field that connects us all.

Oh glory! (as my grandmother would say), more for us to discuss! Soul.

Wow, on the first day of the strike for Palestine. The rebel knew we needed their support to bring this genocide to an end!

What a perfect reading for the start of Aquarius season 🩵
Thanks, Kerani! And I just read this piece from Tesstamona with a Sidereal astrology look at the current energy. All these parallels are kinda wild. https://mementomorialchemy.substack.com/p/collective-energy-check-wtf-is-going
Not to mention Pluto has just reentered Aquarius. 😁
This combination is very interesting!

Oh yay! ❤️ Going to find your post now...
This came at a perfect time. Felt like a reading for me personally. Pretty cool.
