Hi everyone! Welcome to Witchcraft & Metaphysics! If you’re new here, please check out this About Page to find out more. Every month I release a themed, downloadable pack filled with activities, rituals, prompts and more, all to help us enhance our relationships with Magic. The theme for this this month’s pack is the MAINTENANCE of MAGIC. The download is at the end of the post. Enjoy! My work depends entirely on subscribers, so please sign up. If you can afford to upgrade to paid, please do…this is my sole source of income and I want to keep creating for you. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to those already subscribed. Let’s keep building this amazing community of magic together!
Maintenance. Some of us love it (hi Virgos!), while the rest of us tend to think of it as a chore. We all know that maintenance is a necessary part of life. We have to take care of our bodies, our homes, our clothes, our cars, etc.
Full disclosure: I’m pretty bad at it.
I have to have a fairly strong reason WHY or maintenance ends up at the bottom of my to-do list.
One thing I’ve found that works well for me is to frame the maintenance in terms of tending a relationship. Eating healthy foods and getting exercise helps tend my relationship with my body. Keeping my home clean helps tend my relationship with both my house spirits and my husband. You get the idea.
When I began my practices with Magic, I realized that there’s quite a bit of maintenance involved. So much so, in fact, that I found myself not wanting to practice at all. I knew that wasn’t the answer for me, though, and so I decided to look at it all in terms of relationship too.
I got quiet and asked myself: what do I really need to do to tend my relationship with Magic? As with other relationships, I need to show up with my focus and attention; and I need to engage in mutually enjoyable activities. With Magic in particular, this looks like taking part in consistent (for me, daily) practice. Part of that also means having my ritual items on hand and ready to use.
But because I wasn’t interested in having to consecrate, cleanse and charge every single item, every single time I used it, I came up with what I call my 3-in-1 tool. Now I only have to maintain this one tool and everything that comes into contact with it is instantly ready for ritual.
If this laid back strategy towards maintenance appeals to you, then I think you’ll especially love this month’s downloadable pack. As always, though, please take my suggestions and make them your own.
Here’s the breakdown of this month’s pack:
Week one: we’ll explore our own reasons why maintenance matters and then create our simple 3-in-1 maintenance tool.
Week two: we’ll look at practices for charging and consecrating.
Week three: we’ll look practices for cleansing and disposal of ritual items, completed spells, offerings, etc.
Week four is all about keeping records and inventory. This week includes every tracking worksheet from the previous five downloadable packs, plus several new ones like a book of shadows template.
And, of course, there are journal prompts, a card spread, and much more!
These first six months of Magic packs have been a nice, slow, deep dive into building a foundation with magic. Moving forward, over the next six months, we will get more into specific spells and others practical ways to work with Magic.
You can find all of the magic packs here. Jump in anytime, you don’t have to go in any particular order.
As always, if you have questions or comments, please leave them below or send me an email. I can’t wait to explore Maintenance and Magic with you! 🤗
Ooh maintenance... now there’s a word I skirt around as often as possible... I am a terror at leaving those jiggly chores to the last minute, letting them pile up and then torturing my family with could temper because all of a sudden it’s not just an hours work but a full day! I love this 3in1 idea... so much so I am feeling a shift in the general terrorised feeling I have woken with (today is maintenance day...) to one of taking a more Zen approach. This week especially, after all that has happened, my maintenance list is overwhelming but it needn’t be, when I look, there are many items that are self inflicted tortures that are not even necessary! They need to be let go, struck off or passed to another, after all, life, as tricky as it is, surely is about sharing too?
I’m trying to imagine the amount of time you must need to gift us all these incredibly beautiful and concise Magic Packs Jenna. Thank you so much.... ✨♥️✨
Brilliant idea - sort of a "one ring to rule them all" approach ;) Thanks Jenna!
