Dearest readers,
Just a quick note to say hello. I’m traveling this week as a celebration for my husband’s and my 50th birthdays, as well as our anniversary. We’re going up to the gorgeous San Juan Mountains in Colorado for a few days of rest and reconnection.
As always, I am taking all of you with me in the form of your representative stones that I keep on my altar. I will do a ritual while I’m there to connect you with the Spirit and blessings of the Mountain. 💖💖💖
These glorious mountains above Silverton, Colorado are among our favorite places to visit. It’s been about ten years since we’ve been and I feel the sweet anticipation of reunion, just like being able to revisit an old friend.
Below is a photo from the last time we went. That’s me in the lower left. My sister and I were nervous about a very narrow part of the jeep road, so we opted to exit the vehicle and walk down to the wider of part of the road where we’d be picked up. Somehow (it’s still a mystery to me how it happened) we managed to get lost, which is why I’m shrugging in the photo. But it’s hard to be mad about being lost when that’s the gorgeous view surrounding you. (The Jeep did eventually find us so all ended well. 🤗)
In anticipation of going this time, I’ve spent several days in liminal space connecting with these mountains and sending blessings to them. If you feel a call to any particular mountain range, this is something you can do too.
You can travel to a nearby mountain or make a mountain shrine at home or simply go into liminal space and connect that way. In either case, just open your heart to this big sacred being in your life and give an offering of love and gratitude. Notice the energy this Spirit brings to your life. If it feels good to you, using your voice in an offering of song always feels especially potent to me.
Another of my favorite things to do to honor Mountain is to write a story about it. Some of the ways I like to do this are:
Look to what is already written by traditional stewards.
Look to what my ancestors might have said about Mountain Spirit.
Listen to the mountain itself and the land around it, touching into the mountain’s context and getting to know who it is relating with all the time.
Put myself into the story so that the story holds meaning about the relationship between me and Mountain, including what Mountain means to me.
I hope you all have a glorious week! ✨🙏
There won’t be an archetype/tarot post this Sunday, but I will resume regular scheduling the following week.
OMG you had me at mountains!!! Those pics are stunning! I'm spoiled living right at the foot of the Canadian Rockies but still...yours a gorgeous too!
Happy birthdays and happy anniversary!! Safe travels and have a beautiful time!
Happy happy birthday! Hope your trip is everything you dream it to be. Love that you’re bringing your altar stones. Think I’m gonna try tapping in through my stone to breathe that mountain air!
