I love this so much Jenna, I always learn a bit more, even if I've read them before. I don't often have the patience to do the research myself, so I am so grateful when you share such interesting stuff. The fact that we have mostly skipped the fact that elements are 'alive' is fascinating. Thank you!

Thank you, Louise! 🤗💖 Once I understood the elements as living, so many things shifted for me. Knowing that we are all made up of parts that are already alive just makes so much sense.

The Elements! Oh they are like my dearest friends. They are the cornerstones of who I am and how I interact with the wider world. The Elements. They are the stalwart guardians of my deepest truth and the key to how to get there. They are the wise ones that hold me when my life falls a part and when my life comes back together again. The Elements..

Jenna, what you wrote here enabled me to sink deeper into my own personal relationship with the Elements and realise how important they are for me. Thank you, wise woman. 💖

Absolutely, gorgeous, Sam! The guardians of my deepest truth and the key how to get there. Oh my gosh, that's so perfect! Thank you, dear friend!

This was so informative, incredible, and magical that I literally took notes! I write down things you had written and scribbled down my own thoughts and feelings. Reading this became a deep meditation for me Jenna, and something that I will be pondering and diving more deeply into all day long today, I believe. Thank you so very much, my sweet friend. ❤️

Ahhhh, I love this so much, Liz! 💖💖💖 I take notes all the time too! I think I'll adopt your method here, though. Take the note, then write our own thoughts and feelings about it. I can't think of a better way to internalize any teaching! Thank you so much for this, Liz! 🤗

I'm so glad you reposted this article. Not sure if I saw it last year? But it certainly resonates with me! (As you know) I have a strange relationship with Water, but respect and love it. However, Air (Wind) and Fire are my main stays. When I was led to connect energetically with Fire, I realized it is not something that has to be started or created. Fire is. It shows itself when things are blended in a certain way to give it flame. Then we fear it. But I am awestruck by Fire. and incorporate it in my spiritual life whenever appropriate.

Wow, that's so beautiful and powerful, Melissa! Fire doesn't need "us" to create it. It shows itself when conditions are right. I really love that! Thank you so much for that perspective. I've been thinking, too, of times we fear the elements. It seems to be when they are uncontained. Then, to our way of thinking, they cause destruction (which, of course, is another face of creation). When the elements are uncontained, they remind us of their pure power.

Hey Jenna--

This resonated so deeply with me, especially the water. I have had a faithful practice of singing to the water and asking it questions for years. It always, always gives me a good answer. I started it right around the time I made a traveling altar. (I love traveling altars! Making them, tucking them into my suitcase, recreating them when I arrive someplace new and adding to them in a new place. How fun that you make them too.)

What I loved about this piece was the way it was a beautiful reminder of the how the earth and the cosmos live inside of us--in our breath, our blood, the minerals that make up our bones, the heat we make when we get passionate about life. Beautiful! Thank you.

And ps:

I just realized that in my head I have been combining your first two names and have been thinking of you as Jewel for a long time. I'm handing that to you as a gift, because of course, it is an apt name.

Rebecca, I can't thank you enough for this gift! I had the most amazing spiritual experience because of you and your words here. I may even end up writing a post about it, but here's what happened (I'll try to keep this version short): I was out on my morning walk, listening to my "thumbs up" playlist and felt a few of my grandmothers with me very strongly. Because of all my work with the ancestors, this in and of itself is a fairly common occurrence. That morning, this particular group of grandmothers was REALLY with me. I could see them and hear them and feel them. As we walked along, I heard a notification come through my phone. Every other day, I ignore all notifications while walking, but for some reason, I took my phone out of my pocket and looke at it. It was a notification for your comment here. I read it and it filled my heart to read the name Jewel. I thought about an online group I belong to where, when we meet, we're encouraged to introduce ourselves with a spirit name if we have one. I've never had one before, but now thought I would use Jewel as my name at our next circle. Anyway, I continued walking and my grandmothers were there again. I was telling them of this name Jewel, and all of a sudden remembered that one of them had had the middle name Pearl. That made me smile and I said aloud something along the lines that now we're both of sort of Jewel. Right at that moment, the playlist I'd been listening to, the one made of my favorite "thumbs up" songs, began playing a song I didn't recognize. I thought it odd since it was supposed to be a list of my favorites. So, again, I took my phone out of my pocket, wondering "what song is this?" When I looked at the screen it said, "Pearls" by MaMuse. I couldn't believe it! The song is not only a love song to these jewels that we all are, but also a love song to WATER! Needless to say, I cried tears of love and gratitude all the way home. THANK YOU, Rebecca, for extending this gift to me and for opening a portal through which my ancestors could speak of their love so directly. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wow!! This makes me. SO. happy!!! I got chills when I was reading it. What a pleasure to be able to be a part of your deep and gorgeous spiritual practice that way. You are a soul sister for sure! Thank you for telling me this.

Loved this exploration into the elements. And that matter is held together by the force of Love, and is pulled apart by the force of Strife. Love that quote. What I have discovered is that by getting too into the scientific aspect of life, as fascinating as it is, can also take meaning away. It can remove the mystery and the mystical nature that is the foundation of life. With the elements as with life, the unknown is an important "element" in being relational with existence.

I love this, Julie, thank you! I so agree! Living in the question rather than the answer is where all the juiciness lies. When we create around us a scaffolding of certainty, we leave no room for wonder.

I LOVE this so much!!!! The very first thing I thought of when I read this is that documentary called The Earthing Movie. I do my best every day (excluding winter) to step outside in bare feet and CONNECT with the earth and its elements. There's real science backing this movement. Your pics from your trip are beautiful and I'm so glad you had the opportunity to be out there with nature!!

PS: Here's a link to the movie if you've not heard of it (but something tells me you have) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44ddtR0XDVU

Oh my gosh, yes! Earthing has changed my life. It’s sort of become my go-to response for any ailment. Sore thumb? Let’s try earthing. Blood pressure reading high? Stand on the grounding mat for an hour. I LOVE that you connect every day! That’s my goal, but don’t always make it. Opposite from you, the summer ground here is often too hot for my bare tootsies, but I like the cold ground of winter (which is not snow-covered as in your neck of the woods).

Ahh I knew you'd know about this! I have only recently started it since moving to this house with a yard. But I notice a significant difference in my mood and demeanor when I take little breaks in my work day to go out to the back yard and sit or lay in the grass with my dog.

Winter will be a challenge 😁
