I loved this post so much! I do a lot work with whales, and they hold memory too, by singing. It was beautiful to hear about your relationship with stones and these stories. Mostly, I loved your emphasis on remembering in this post. That resonates deeply with me. Thanks so much for writing this. I have strong relationships with the stones around me--not just the collection of polished stones I use in my intuitive sessions, but also with the stones by the creek where I go when I meditate and sing to the water.

Hi Rebecca! I love that you have relationships with the stones by the creek. ❤️ I think the stones that are near water have very special memories. And I would love to hear more about your work with whales! How wonderful that they hold memory by singing too. As I read this, I thought about how my guides once told me that corvids (ravens and crows especially) are also memory keepers. Between whales, stones and corvids, we've got memory keepers of the sea, the sky and the earth. That seems pretty significant!

I agree, and these stones are near the biggest single drop waterfall in the east, so they hold a very special vibration. It's amazing to sit with them and listen. And there are always, always, ravens nearby. I like the way you put the whales, stones and corvids together--like a holy trinity of memory keepers.

Thanks for asking about the whales--I wrote a piece about some of my work with them here: https://open.substack.com/pub/rebeccabarry/p/so-one-day-while-i-was-meditating?r=1e46c&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

I love stones too! I think it came from my Grandad telling me that I should help little stones on their journey by giving them a little kick down the path - I’m almost sure I also remember him telling me to listen out for them thanking me 🥰

A few years ago, the river through my hometown was uncovered after many years of being hidden under what was once the widest bridge in Europe. I went to visit not longer after it was uncovered, and I could hear/feel the stones and rocks in there laughing excitedly at their new open space. It was beautiful!

I’ve been a few times since but haven’t ever heard them the way I did that day. I’ll speak to them again next time I visit - very glad to have found your stack today! Thank you 🥰

Wow, Sally, this is incredible! Thank you so much for sharing this story. I bet those stones LOVE their new open space. I'm so intrigued by this. Did they completely remove the bridge? I bet all the inhabitants of the river are ecstatic. And I love your Grandad's wisdom. That warms my heart.

This article explains the bridge a little better, and there’s a photo too https://www.rochdaletowncentre.co.uk/news/rochdales-transformation-continues-with-completion-of-5m-scheme-to-re-open-the-river-roch/

Wow! That's really neat! I hadn't realized the river itself had been totally paved over and now it's exposed. I bet it feels like a time capsule has been opened for you, getting to see not only the water and stones that haven't been since in a long time, but also that amazing medieval bridge. We have so few ancient architectural wonders like that where I live. Thank you so much for sharing this!

THIS, Jenna, is so very, very precious and so incredibly powerful!!! I am a monthly subscriber, but I am inspired to make an extra gift for the PRICELESSNESS of this Transmission. Is there a way to do this through this platform? I ask because I would like to share this Teaching forward, to my students, and I feel compelled to offer some gift, some repayment, some meaningful, energetic acknowledgement for this potent exchange. !!!!!!!!

Thanks, Rom! 💕🤗😍 I so appreciate you wanting to share this! As far as offering some form of additional payment, I would love if any of your students became free (or paid) subscribers to my substack. Additionally, I believe there is a way to gift a paid subscription to someone, which I'm happy to look into. And if none of that is feasible, I'm sure the perfect thing will fall onto our paths. You support me so much already! I'm so grateful for you!

What a beautiful story of the ancients and their relationship with stones. I felt this energy on a recent trip to Scotland, where we visited a circle of Standing Stones. I heard their song on the wind and felt the embrace of their energy. Magic was in the air and I honored it. A pattern of small stones invited me to lie down, and I actually felt the earth move! Now I know why, because of your article :-)

Oh my goodness, Kathryn! What an amazing experience you had! That's just so beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing this. I live in the US and it's a dream of mine to one day go to an ancestral homeland and be among the stones there.

So beautiful and serendipitous. My partner and I utilized stones in our retreat over the weekend. We all held a stone and shared aloud a bout of grief we would like to transmute and release. Then dropped it in a bucket of water and fed the water to the trees and the stones to the river. ❤️✨

Really enjoyed this essay, Jenna! ♡

I am so happy to see you mention 'regular stones.' I've never felt comfortable purchasing stones because they mean nothing to me. I've stood in many metaphysical shops listening to the clerk telling someone to "pick up each stone and purchase the one(s) that speak to you." Something feels so 'off' about that to me. I rather prefer my local stones -- the stone my dad found & brought home for me that had a trilobite fossil inside, the quartz and mica my son finds in our backyard, the schist, the limestone. I wonder if it's b/c those stones are the stones of my ancestors? My shelves are filled with rather bland-looking stones but they mean so much more to me than the 'pretty' tumbled stones/sparkling crystals I've purchased in shops. (That's just me, though!)

❤️❤️❤️ It's definitely not just you, I'm the same way! I LOVE that the stones that mean the most to you are associated with memories of your loved ones (your dad and son). That feels like it deepens the relationship with the stones even further. Thank you so much for sharing that!

the way you blend science and intuition (of course this may not be how you see it) is truly intriguing.

Thank you, Philip! ❤️ As my favorite storyteller on substack, you have honored me deeply by commenting here. It's interesting, my whole background up to around the age of 30, was in science (I come from a long line of scientists and mathematicians). I was always confused by the apparent division between science and spirituality, because I saw them as coexisting beautifully and complementing one another. For the longest time, I thought this made me a bad scientist. So for you to mention the blend of science of intuition in this post fills me with joy. Thank you again!

Thank you for sharing the story of the stones! I remember as a child being fascinated by geodes and had quite a collection! I have a small collection of crystals now and used to wear different ones that spoke to me. I’ve fallen out of this habit but will revisit my relationship to them and other stones!

Yay! Thank you, Mariah! I'm so glad you feel called to get back to your stones. My relationship with the stones has become so grounding for me. Thank you for bringing up the practice of wearing them! I totally forgot to include that in my post and it's such a wonderful way to be with them.

Wow. This is really powerful. I’ve been attracted to and collecting stones since I was a little girl. Just the other day I was looking at the river rocks in my yard and wondering why they made me so happy. Now I know how to deepen my relationship with them. Thank you.

Jenna, you are charming in your willingness to be yourself. The idea of using a stone on the body for healing is interesting. You may know that harmful nanotechnology is in our environment, vaccines, and bodies. Perhaps the metals in this synthetic biology can be mitigated by stones? Keep on discovering.

Very interesting, Julie, thank you! I haven't worked with that specifically, but I do believe in the power of the stones' memory to heal all kinds of things. Please let me know if you find out more about the stones and nanotechnology.

I never thought of stones in this way, thank you Jenna!

When I was a young child I was very drawn to stones, as was my more spiritual son (the other one not so much). Now this makes more sense because as children we are so much more open to the guidance. I see that recently I have not been listening to the stones as well as I could be so will be more intentional about doing so.

What an amazing story you received from your ancestor and to be talked with helping in healing. I think you will heal many others through this piece as it gets us thinking and paying closer attention.

I live in the mountains of British Columbia so am surrounded by stones and my favorite are the river stones (and the river). After reading this it makes more sense to me.

Thank you for this lovely post, a piece of the puzzle just fell into place for me. We moved to this place nearly 2 years ago, it is surrounded by stones. Millenia ago they were rounded and polished by glacier coming down the valley, then in the 1870's they were sluiced up out of the earth, carried away and dumped into tailings, great mounds of them, in an armageddon known as a gold rush. The soil was washed away down the river out to sea, leaving the stones behind. Now the rainforest is covering them, with moss, ferns, lichens, tea tree. It is the most extraordinary landscape. Every day or so I walk up the trail between them, some as big as a house, and sing. And pray. I climb up a mound of stones and meditate for a bit. No idea why, they seem to pull me toward them, I feel such grief here, but hope too. Glimmers. Thank you, I will keep going now, feeling a little less aimless and sad.
