I did a version of this with a spirit in my house. I was guided to play Beethoven's 9th, to help her cross over. Before that we were having a LOT of trouble with renovation in our house. Everything that could go wrong was going wrong, including us not having hot water. After that things got a lot smoother. She lives in the garden now, and seems much happier. Thanks for breaking down the process so thoroughly!

I love this, Rebecca! How beautiful that she wanted Beethoven's 9th (that's Ode to Joy, right?) I wonder if her name is Joy. I'm so glad things got smoother for you and that she is happy in the garden. Thank you so much for helping her and for sharing this story with me!

Jenna,

I've just returned from an afternoon walk, having read this introduction to psychopomp last night and letting it linger in me all day. To say that this has gathered my deepest allurement is understatement. I'm referring as much to comments we've had today over at my stack about ancestors seeing through our eyes. There is quality here of two-way giving and receiving through the body by way of seeing the world; the eyes the windows of the soul: world, self, and . . . other (ancestors +). That this could be so changes the meaning of *seeing*, seems to ask us to quiet the mind and let the world appear in essence and impress upon being (ours and an Other, lending and giving horizons of meaning and purpose from the something seen all the way 'back' through multiple realms. . . .

There is more to explore here, and I may be going in directions that are too far afield, but your beautiful, clear, and caring introduction to psychopomp registered new insights. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this, Renee! ❤️ I still haven't distilled all my thoughts into words, but wanted to reply anyway. What you've said here makes me think about things like: not only are we each the living face (or altar) of the ancestors, but they are the portals through which we "see" eternity. For me, they are as much a part of the self as what appears to be "my" conscious awareness. Your idea of quieting the mind and letting "the world appear in essence and impress upon being...giving horizons of meaning and purpose from the something seen all the way back through multiple realms" is exactly the direction my work with the archetypes is taking me in recent days. I will leave it there for now, but we have much to discuss!

Much to discuss indeed! 🤗

Jenna, I love this so much. Crazy enough, I just learned advanced skills in my shamanism class around psychopomp, and was revealed by my wolf guide that I am meant to support young children transition (specifically those who have been killed in mass school shootings). It’s such a great honor to do this work, and to know a fellow healer doing the same.

Thank you for making it accessible and teachable for others. What a gift 💝

Jenna, this is so fascinating and a road I have not traveled down very much. At least not intentionally. There have been several times that I have spoken with the recently passed, but these were more spontaneous, they came to me. With that said, lately I have been focusing more on my ancestors. Meeting them and communicating with them. What you present here is intriguing...I am drawn to The Dreamer's Book of the Dead, that is going on my list. Thanks Jenna!

That's wonderful, Julie, thank you! It warms my heart to hear you're drawn to your ancestors. That is profoundly important work. I'll be looking forward to your feedback on Robert Moss's book. I feel like it's one that will really resonate with you in particular. ❤️

Thank you for this. I especially liked the part about those of us who are clairvoyant, but may be sentient or other. I have always struggled with seeing but can sense, hear and smell, and sometimes feel, so this resonated with me. That was a nice bit of added information. Thank you.

Thank you, Captain Tash! You are so right. We all have our own unique ways of perceiving and communicating.❤️

It's taken me a while to accept that no one way is better than another.🌻

Me too. There seems to be a sort of favoritism towards clairvoyance, but really I've found it to be only a small part of my experience personally.

Yes, there does. I wonder what the ratios are for each clair? I also wonder how many people have perhaps felt like they're not doing something correctly?

Thanks to my friends and your post I do feel a lot more confident that my gifts are not lesser than.

I actually only recently realised, again thanks to a friend, that I channel a fair amount when I am giving advice, making art and creating music. So, swings and roundabouts.

Thank you for this, Jenna. Your respect for others' beliefs (divinities) is so refreshing and thoughtful. And, I always enjoy reading your perspective on our relationships with those who've left this world.

I've added The Dreamer's Book of the Dead: A Soul Traveler's Guide to Death, Dying, and the Other Side to my to-read list. ♡

Jenna~ what a wonder reveal of your true mission! I am in awe. I have taught the similar concept of Earthbound Spirits and how or if we should help in some way. But this is such a sweet and gentle introduction to the psychopomp (I did not know the phrase). I have only spoken about it in terms that were given to me through my guides. I usually deal with subjects in a simplistic manner. I so love this. I am ordering the books you recommend and will be submersed in the concept. Thank you/M

Thank you so much, Melissa! ❤️🤗 I'm looking forward to hearing all about what you discover on the topic of psychopomp. I bet your guides will give you some great insights in addition to the books. Working with the dead really is my mission in this life (or a big part of it anyway) and I'm so happy to do my own little part to help.
